Amarantha is a Jamaican/Australian dancer, writer, performer and producer whose work elevates and celebrates Afro-Caribbean magic, culture, mysticism and history. As a dancer her style is a riveting mix of contemporary and Afro-Caribbean forms.
Her 20 year career as an arts producer started in Kingston: Using her Bachelor’s Degree in her Media and Communication and Masters degree in Film and Television production she brought creatives together for the realisation of grand artistic visions, coordinating projects for renowned artistes such as Alicia Keys, Sean Paul and Shaggy. Moving to Melbourne, she transitioned her film production skills into arts-making and management. She has produced events and arts programs for MAV (Multicultural Arts Victoria), Malthouse Theatre, Always Live, Darebin and Wyndham City Councils.

As writer she amplifies stories from her Caribbean culture and West African ancestral lineage. She was one of a handful of writers selected for La Mama Theatre’s Pathways Writers Program and Malthouse Theatre’s Besen writer’s program.

Her one-woman show Oshun, about the Yoruba goddess of love, femininity and fertility had 2 sold-out seasons at La Mama theatre in 2002 and 2024. Her ensemble play ILARUN: The Cutting Comb had a critically acclaimed season at fortyfivedownstairs in December 2024. Her work has been supported by funding from The City of Melbourne and Creative Australia.
