Performer. Producer. Facilitator.
Amarantha is a Jamaican/Australian dancer, writer, performer and producer whose work elevates and celebrates Afro-Caribbean magic, culture, mysticism and history. As a dancer her style is a riveting mix of contemporary and Afro-Caribbean forms.
Her work expresses and supports the agency of the Black Indigenous and People of Colour (BIPOC) to tell their stories on their terms. As a Producer, she has led events and arts programs for MAV (Multicultural Arts Victoria), Malthouse Theatre, Darebin and Wyndham City Councils. She was Associate Producer of Hot Brown Honey Hive City Legacy - Naarm Chapter (Arts Centre Melbourne, 2025) and is a mentor for the New Writers Collective - an Arts Centre Melbourne’s program supporting emerging BIPOC writers. Oshun is her original production, born out of her spiritual connection to her ancestral story and song lines, dance practice and desire to see more Black bodies and stories on stage in Australia.

As writer she amplifies stories from her Caribbean culture and West African ancestral lineage. She was one of a handful of writers selected for La Mama Theatre’s Pathways Writers Program and Malthouse Theatre’s Besen writer’s program.

Her one-woman show "Oshun", about the Yoruba goddess of love, femininity and fertility had 2 sold-out seasons at La Mama theatre in 2002 and 2024. Her ensemble play "ILARUN: The Cutting Comb" had a critically acclaimed season at fortyfivedownstairs in December 2024. Her work has been supported by funding from The City of Melbourne and Creative Australia.

As an engaging creative leader and facilitator, she leads workshops on ancestral aliveness, confidence, dance and drumming. She supports women is activating their voice and presence through one-on-one coaching.
