In December 2024, Amarantha presented a bold new, critically acclaimed play at fortyfivedownstairs called:
Set on an 17th C. English plantation in Jamaica, Ilarun is a mystical tale in a world where the sexual fluids of enslaved West African women are harvested / milked for power.
It follows Juicy, a "milked slave" in her rediscovery of self, sexuality and ancestral remembering that could snap the tethers of power.

OSHUN
Inspired by a myth from Yoruba oral tradition, Oshun is a mystical experience of dance, song and live drumming, transporting you into the sky kingdom of the Orishas (deities venerated across West Africa, The Caribbean and Latin America).
It follows the story of young Oshun, the Yoruba goddess of love, femininity and river waters, as she rises against ridicule and crippling self-doubt to prove that her powers are real in a quest to return Oggun, the god of war, metal and technology to his domain.
Written and performed by Amarantha, with live drumming by Adrian H. Hearn, this is a powerful, intimate work that celebrates Afro-Caribbean / Latin culture, resilience, mysticism and divine feminine energy.
